THE first ever inter-schools climate change summit is coming to Redditch.

Students from St Augustine’s Catholic High School, Trinity High School, Arrow Vale RSA Academy, Tudor Grange Academy and Ipsley CE RSA Academy will take part in the event, hosted by Rachel Maclean MP this Friday (October 1).

Two student delegates from each school will represent a country and debate three motions, proposed by the MP, using research to argue the case on behalf of the nation they represent to learn how decisions are made in democratic forums.

Councillor Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, and Councillor Anthony Lovell, Portfolio Holder for Climate Change on Redditch Borough Council, will speak to the pupils about the actions they are taking at a local government level to tackle climate change.

Rachel said: “I feel it is vital for students to engage in the conversation about climate change and have the opportunity to experience debating in a miniature global forum.

“Young people must be at the heart of what we do as they will be impacted most if we fail to tackle climate change.

“I am really excited about meeting and chatting with the students. Let’s see what they can do!”
