THE police have vowed to crackdown on boy racers in Headless Cross and Oakenshaw.

For some time officers have been dealing with anti-social drivers in the area surrounding Coldfield Drive, between the Tesco supermarket and the fast food restaurants on the roundabout.

In Christmas 2015 boy racers were presenting such a danger local officers decided to rally residents to come forward and provide statements.

These statements gave police evidence to present the issues to Safer Roads Partnership and to Worcestershire Regulatory Services.

Recent positive feedback from Safer Roads Partnership will now see that a speed data collection device will be installed on Coldfield Drive which will help in deciding where to enforce speeding vehicles and at exactly what times of the day.

A spokesman from Headless Cross and Oakenshaw safer neighbourhood teams said that the nature of policing residential areas surrounding the A441 presents many issues and admitted there is still work to do

"Unfortunately, not everyone uses these roads for legitimate purposes," they said.

"Since Summer 2015 local officers have been treating this area as a priority and have patrolled on a regular basis.

"Unfortunately, Redditch police are still receiving calls about the problems and would like to reassure residents that police presence in the area is going to continue."
