A COMEDY/horror film created and filmed in Redditch and Alcester is getting rave reviews.

The Snarling, featuring a number of star names from film and television, sees a small village pub and some of its locals become involved with a zombie horror movie that is being shot in their village... but something else is happening, something that is not in the script.

It stars Joel Beckett from Eastenders and The Office fame, Chris Simmons from Casualty, and Julie Peasgood.

There is also a special appearance from former Midlands Today newsreader Ashley Blake, as a newsreader.

The film, written in January 2014 by Studley-based actor and writer Pablo Raybould, has already had a number of screenings including a star-studded event at Bromsgrove's Artrix last week and a screening at London’s Leicester Square on Monday.

After the screening at the Artrix, Mr Raybould said: "It went incredibly well. There were about 200 people there. Three quarters were invited guests that had, in some way, helped with the film – cast, crew, locations, sound, etc.

"The Artrix were most professional too, which helped an evening such as this and they deserve credit too. It looked superb on their big screen."

He added: "The film received gales of laughter and huge applause and was a huge hit.

"We have received fantastic comments and it is being likened to Shaun of the Dead and films of that genre."
