A SUPER slimming beagle from Redditch can wag his tail again after placing fourth in a national pet weight-loss competition.

Rolls of fat had stopped poor Bob from moving his tail but after taking part in the PDSA’s national pet slimming competition Pet Fit Club, he is now able move it again.

At his heaviest Bob weighed over five stone- nearly twice the size of a healthy Beagle.

He is now just pounds away from his goal weight, losing 10lb in the competition.

Bob was originally rescued from Romania, after spending the first ten years of his life on the streets but when he arrived in the UK, he was rarely walked and regularly ate human food, so he quickly ballooned in size. He was later given to a rescue shelter.

In February, he was readopted by Kate Hazzard-Smith, who put the pooch on a diet where he lost a stone, before enrolling him in the weight loss boot camp.

"When we went to pick Bob up, we were completely gobsmacked,” she said.

"We thought we would be providing end-of-life care. He looked like he had only a year left to live as he was enormous and struggled to move.

"He looked so miserable.

"I’m so proud of how Bob’s done. The transformation has been amazing, Bob couldn’t walk when we first had him - you only have to get his lead now and he’s out the door.

"It’s obvious to see how much happier he is, as his tail is never still now.

"We’re determined to keep going until he reaches his ideal weight," she added.
