A STUDLEY-based quilting club has stitched its way to success, celebrating its one year anniversary recently.

Studley Quilters, believed to be the only group of its kind in the village, has managed to attract 30 members over the past year.

To celebrate the one-year milestone the group held a birthday party at Studley High School and members brought along various sewing projects.

The chairman Helena Fletcher gave a presentation of all the projects and work the group completed over the year.

“We were overwhelmed with exhibition material,” group member Wendy Reeves explained.

“We hope next year is going to be successful, the first year has been very successful. The people of Studley have really welcomed us and we have had support from various organisations in the village.”

She added that the group is always looking to recruit new members, of any age, and encouraged youngsters to join as members enjoy passing on their skills to younger generations.

Throughout the year, the club has had various speakers including representatives from the Forge Needle Museum in Redditch.

The group recently held a six-week workshop to make a small quilt and this proved so popular that they will be holding two further projects in spring and autumn next year.

The group meets at Studley High School on the first Thursday of each month between 7.30pm to 9.30pm where they discuss projects they have been working on, demonstrate any techniques and have regular guest speakers.

Joining costs £10 per year and £2 per meeting.
