GET on your leathers and put down your visor for an advanced motorcycling skills day in Redditch.

The Redditch Advanced Motorcyclists Group (RAMG) will be coming to Redditch Fire Station in Birmingham Road on Saturday from 10am-5pm, offering a wide range of activities to riders who want to put their skills to the test.

RAMG committee member Mike Wren said: "Our purpose is to bring the benefits of advanced training to as wide a motorcycling population as possible.

"Each of us who has passed the advanced test knows just how much safer we have become as a result of such training and wish to ensure the safety of others."

The Department for Transport road accident statistics show that although motorcyclists by distance travelled make up just one per cent of road users, they have 20 per cent of fatalities and serious accidents.

A free assessed ride with a qualified Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists motorcycle observer will be on offer, with a trophy presented to the best observed rider.

Any rider wishing to ride a demonstrator bike must produce two forms of identity and both parts of their driving licence.

Worcestershire Road Safety representatives will also be present to spread the word on motorbike safety and mechanics from Stealth Motorcycles will carry out a free bike safety inspection.
