THE Macular Society Barnt Green Support Group is holding an awareness day for anyone who would like to find out about macular degeneration.

More than half a million people over the age of 60 have late stage macular degeneration, which causes central vision loss, affecting one’s ability to read, recognise faces and drive.

It’s the UK’s most common cause of registration as blind or partially sighted.

The event is in Sainsburys, 2 High Street, Longbridge on Thursday, July 3 between 10am and 4pm.

The Barnt Green Group meets on the last Friday of the month (except June and December) at 2pm at the Friends Meeting House, Sandhills Road in Barnt Green.

New members are always welcome.
