A REDDITCH church is marking 30 years since its founding by holding a community fete.

St Andrews Methodist Church, Church Hill, will hold a fair on Saturday, June 14 starting at 1pm.

Proceedings will begin with an opening by the mayor, followed by choir singing and a skipping demonstration by pupils from Church Hill Middle School.

There will also be a comedy show, children’s activities, historical photos, cream teas, a barbecue and various stalls from groups and trades people from the Church Hill community.

Church minister, the Rev Stephen Levett, said: "The date of the event coincides with when the foundation was first laid 30 years ago in 1984. The church was completed and opened in November that year and has sought to be a place of welcome and spiritual refreshment for the people of Church Hill and beyond ever since.

"It is an exciting time in Church Hill, with the new shopping and housing developments and the Big Local plan recently being released. All these things have the potential to make Church Hill an even better place to live, and we hope the fete can be one more occasion that helps contribute to that growing sense of community.

"Everyone is welcome to come along.  It might be nice if people could pray for a sunny day but we will have fun whatever the weather."
