RESIDENTS and visitors to Redditch are being encouraged to ‘do a mile’ for Sport Relief at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre this weekend.

Over Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22, Pure Gym, which recently opened within the Kingfisher, will be taking four exercise bikes into Worcester Square where shoppers will be given the opportunity to ‘cycle’ a mile for charity, or make a donation to the cause.

Sport Relief aims to encourage the nation to get active and raise money at the same time. Money raised by the campaign is spent by Comic Relief and goes towards helping change the lives of people both in the UK and abroad.

Kingfisher Shopping Centre spokesman Katie Broome, said: “Sport Relief is such a fantastic campaign and now that we have Pure Gym within the Kingfisher, it was an easy decision to get involved.

“Our ‘do a mile for Sport Relief’ activity will be fun and anyone can get involved. The Pure Gym coaches will be on hand to ensure everyone is doing the activity safely and to offer fitness related advice. We would encourage as many people as possible to come down and take part!”

As an extra incentive, all members of the public who take part by cycling the equivalent of a mile on one of the exercise bikes will be offered a free day pass for Pure Gym, Redditch.
