ALCESTER High Street will be closed during the daytime on two consecutive Sundays during March to enable the next phase of the 20mph speed limit changes to be implemented.

The two Sundays will be March 9 and 16.

Alcester Councillor Mike Gittus has been one of the leading advocates of the speed limit reduction saying it will help save lives and reduce accidents.

"These days and times have been carefully organised to ensure minimum impact on the town centre retail area and residents," he said.
