A DRIVER in a collision on the outskirts of Redditch died as the result of an accident, an inquest has heard.

Rebecca Flay, 20, died after her black Volkswagen Lupo was in collision with a yellow Peugeot 307 on the B4083 Studley Road, on the border of Worcestershire and Warwickshire, on September 9.

Rebecca and her sister Stephanie, aged 22, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where Rebecca died on September 13.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 23-year-old woman from Redditch, was treated at the nearby Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for whiplash injuries and shock.

Rebecca, known as Beckiie, was a former pupil of Studley High School, and had gone on to study beauty therapy at NEW College in Redditch.

She worked part time at Tesco Express in Studley and Boots in the Kingfisher shopping centre in Redditch.

Her family said she was a beautiful daughter and sister, a dearly loved and special granddaughter, niece and cousin, and would be missed and remembered by all her many friends.

At the time of her death her parents, Charles and Dawn Flay, from Studley, said: “Beckiie was very much loved by everyone who came into contact with her, and always had a smile on her face.

"Her main aim in life was to give joy to others, especially her family and friends."

A verdict that she died as the result of an accident was recorded.
