CAMPAIGNERS fighting to reopen Redditch Youth House in Smallwood are asking everyone in the town what activities they would like to see the building used for.

Following the closure of the facility in Ipsley Street by Worcestershire County Council, Redditch Youth and Community Enterprise (RYCE) has been campaigning to buy the building and get it reopened.

Ray Groves, RYCE chairman, said: “Our plans to buy the old Youth House are progressing well. The building has a bright future but we need to understand what people and organisations in Redditch want from the facilities and what they are able to do to help save the building.

“There is a large sports hall, an activity space, a well equipped music room, a kitchen, some offices and a meeting room already in the building. Our survey asks how you would use the building. What activities or events would you like to see there?  Could you help out by volunteering or investing in community shares that could earn you interest and help save this building?

“We want people to fill in our short survey on our website ryce.org.uk. It takes about five minutes but can provide vital information for us to support our plans and funding bids.

“Thank you to all those who have helped already but we need more.”

There is a meeting on Wednesday, February 20 at Redditch Town Hall from 6pm to discuss how this building can be reopened.
