POLICE are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a road collision on the A448 in Redditch, this morning.

 

It happened at about 6am on the Redditch bound side of the carriageway just before the turning to Webheath, and involved a grey Ford Mondeo and a silver Peugeot 206.

The Mondeo was travelling towards Redditch and following a collision with the Peugeot it overturned, landing on its roof in the embankment.

The male driver, who is in his 30s, was trapped inside and had to be released by crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

He sustained serious injuries and was taken by Air Ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The injuries are not thought to be life threatening and he is currently in a stable condition.

The driver of the Peugeot was uninjured.

 

PC Lee Palmer from the Force Operations Support Team (FOST) said: "We are eager to hear from anyone who saw the collision or remembers seeing either of the cars just before 6am."
