HUNDREDS of people in Redditch are expected to take to the streets on Remembrance Sunday.

This Sunday, November 11, marks the sacrifice of all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom people enjoy today.

This year a number of traditional parades and ceremonies will take place across the town, as well as the surrounding area.

In Redditch a parade will gather at the Apollo car park, near the Palace Theatre, before marching at 10.15am to the war memorial in Church Green where wreaths will be laid.

There will be a two minute silence followed by a service inside the church.

The parade will then march down Unicorn Hill to the cenotaph in Plymouth Road where another short service will take place.

In Studley a parade will gather in the Pool Road car park at 9am for a 9.30am start.

The parade will march to the war memorial for 10am where wreaths will be laid and a service will be held.

Afterwards there will be another remembrance service at the village hall before the parade returns to Pool Road where the salute will be taken.

A spokesman from the Redditch Branch of The Royal British Legion said: “We welcome members of the public, uniformed associations and youth groups.

“Please come and support our armed forces and veterans.”
