BROMSGROVE and Redditch residents are being encouraged to support a shoebox appeal for a soldiers’ charity.

Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid and Redditch MP Karen Lumley are backing this year’s Christmas Parcel Appeal for the Support Our Soldiers charity.

Every year the charity sends out thousands of shoeboxes packed with gifts to members of the Armed Forces serving abroad, and the MPs hope kind-hearted residents from both towns will contribute again to the charity.

Sajid said: “Being overseas at Christmas away from loved ones can be a difficult time.

“Receiving one of these shoeboxes full of presents and treats I am sure does much to lift their spirits and lighten the mood.

“I will certainly be filling up a shoebox myself and I hope other residents will do the same."
