THIS is the third album by the Canadian punk-pop princess and the title is slightly misleading as, in this reviewer's opinion, her last album Under My Skin was far superior.

Best Damn Thing is very similar to her earlier work but the boy-bashing lyrics she uses so liberally throughout many of her songs are becoming a wee bit tiresome.

The first track Girlfriend is a lively number which is hugely reminiscent of Tony Basil's classic Mickey - only not nearly as fun.

After this, the album is a mixture of more melodic songs which are fairly pleasant on the ear and a lot of more upbeat tracks. And when I say upbeat, I mean the ones where Avril likes to shout "Hey" at the beginning of every other line. This may be a slight exaggeration but one cannot deny the frequency with which Ms Lavigne likes to grab the listener's attention with that particular word.

Some of the better tracks on Best Damn Thing include I Can Do Better and Contagious.
