BATS, ghouls and ghosts on bicycles will flit through Redditch town centre this Saturday as part of an annual Halloween ride organised by volunteers from the charity Sustrans.

The event is part of a regular series of led rides in Redditch on traffic-free or quiet roads.

The spooky party will congregate in Arrow Valley Park at 6pm and cycle a six mile circular route, handing out treats along the way.

They will stop to refresh themselves at ‘the Darkest Pub in Town’, The Black Tap, with soft drinks and café facilities also available.

Ride Leader Roger Bartlett says the event is for all abilities as the ride is quite short and easy.

“This is a social ride for anyone who enjoys riding a bike," he said.

"Families are welcome and spooky outfits. You don’t need to be fast but please do bring warm clothes, waterproofs and lights. We never know what we will encounter out there."

Sustrans created the National Cycle Network, which is 14,000 miles of cycle and walking paths, much of which is traffic-free.
