MUSIC lovers are being urged to get their tickets for a winter folk festival held in Alcester.

The annual Alcester Winter Folk Festival will be returning to the town later this month with range of acts performing from across the country.

The festival known as the Winter Warmer takes place entirely in the Swan Hotel on Swan Street and will run from Friday, February 20 to Sunday, February 22.

During the event, guests can visit Alcester, sing along with the concerts and enjoy traditional storytelling.

Organiser Marje Stanley said: “We’ve got people from Birmingham, Coventry, Liverpool, Surrey, and Manchester.

“Artists come from all over the country.

“They like Alcester and the people in Alcester like them.

“Actually, people refer to it as a family a lot of people come back year after year."

There are also acts from closer to home, with Kate Akers and Andy Fincham from Alvechurch performing during the event.

Visitors are usually invited park their caravans at the Greig Centre or at St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Kinwarton Road.

The annual event is now so well established it is included in many popular folk festival calendars.

Tickets for the full weekend are £35 or £20 for a day and they can be purchased by sending a cheque made payable to ‘Alcester Folk Festival’ to 89 Salford Close, Redditch B98 7UL.
