THE Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra has been described as one of the world’s best young big bands.

It was unbeaten in the BBC National Big Band Competition for 20 years, including the final year, in 2006.

At Toronto, it received an “Outstanding Services To Jazz Education” award.

It has twice won the Dutch National Big Band Competition and appeared in concert with many famous names in jazz, and entertainment.

Tours have included the USA, Russia, Canada and Europe.

The band is lead by top trumpeter John Ruddick, who has performed with the Don Lusher Big Band, BBC Big Band, and worked with such names as Bruce Forsyth.

Last year it featured in a double big-band header with the BBC Big Band for Radio 2.

The orchestra will be coming to the Palace Theatre on November 18.

Tickets for the show are priced at £13 (£12 discounted rate and £42 for a family ticket) from 01527 65203 or redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk.
