Full steam ahead, the Model Railway Club is set to host its annual event in March, rather than its usual September date.

The 51st Model Railway Exhibition is scheduled for Saturday 2 and Sunday, March 3 at Redditch's Trinity High School from 10am until 5pm on Saturday, and 10am until 4.30 on Sunday.

The switch to March is a permanent fixture change, with less competing events happening during the month.

For over two decades, the club has been showcasing the event in September, but organisers are hopeful that the new date will boost the exhibition's popularity.

Visitors can expect to see over 30 stands, showcasing layouts from across the country.

The exhibits range in size from N to O gauge, with layouts travelling from as far as Spalding, Scarborough, and Liverpool gracing the event.

The exhibition manager Guy Craddock, said: "This will be the 51st Redditch Model Railway Exhibition, which has come a long way since the first in 1967.

"Each year the event is proving to be very popular with visitors who travel from all over the country to the show.

"We hope by moving back to earlier in the year after a 20-year gap many more will visit this year’s show, and help make the event even better.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to marvel at the club's award-winning exhibition layout, Arrowmouth.

The show stopping piece took over five years to construct, and continues to impress visitors at each exhibition.

Other well-known layouts, such as Abbotswood and Norton Junction, Gracetown Bank, Lapping Works, and Temple Bridge will also be showcased.

The club aims to keep the exhibition affordable with free admission for under 16s and a £6 entry fee for adults.

All attendees will also receive a free souvenir exhibition guide.
