E-SCOOTER operator, Bird has teamed up with Halford in Redditch to offer staff free rides into work.

The Redditch e-scooter trial area was extended earlier this year and now includes the Halfords Support Centre.

After staff return to the office following many months of home working the retailer has teamed with the e-scooter operator to create a new e-scooter parking area.

Graham Stapleton, Halfords CEO said: “E-scooters have the potential to play a significant role in cleaner and greener commuting, while also easing the burden on public transport.

“As one of the largest employers in Redditch, I am delighted that our own colleagues will now have the option to travel to work in an environmentally friendly way, through this new partnership”.

Office workers will be given promo codes allowing them to ride for free for up to 15 minutes and the e-scooters will be available for hire by members of the public too.

Redditch Borough Council leader Matthew Dormer said: “We were very pleased to be able to extend the e-scooter trial to encompass a larger amount of the borough including Halfords head office, so colleagues who live across Redditch can commute to work in an environmentally friendly and fun way.

“I am committed to encouraging more residents to use sustainable forms of transport, such as e-scooters, as part of the fight against climate change and to improve air quality.”
