DIRECTOR of cricket Steve Rhodes has named a 12-man squad for today's Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Milton Keynes.

Rhodes has made one change to the side that suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Essex Eagles in their opening 50-over match of the season at New Road on Sunday.

Jack Shantry is rested having played in all 25 competitive matches undertaken by the Rapids this season in the LV= County Championship (12), NatWest T20 Blast (12) and Royal London One-Day Cup (1).

The left-armer has taken 40 wickets in the Championship and finished as the second highest wicket-taker with 13 in the T20 Blast.

Fellow paceman Charlie Morris returns to the squad having been rested for the clash with the Eagles.

Rhodes said: "There might be the odd change. In this period, it's important to share the workload around a bit.

"We need to bounce back at Milton Keynes, get a few points on the board and then challenge."

The Rapids defeated the Steelbacks in the T20 Blast at Northampton on July18.

Meanwhile, Rhodes would "love" to have England all-rounder Moeen Ali available for Saturday's NatWest T20 Blast quarter-final with Surrey at the Kia Oval.

But Rhodes accepts it will be down to the England and Wales Cricket Board to decide whether Moeen and any of the other England players will be able to play in the quarter-finals in between the third and fourth Tests with India.

Moeen has played in only four of the Rapids' 14 North Group games on their way to booking a spot in the last-eight because of his England commitments.

But his presence with the bat and ball would be a massive boost to the Rapids against Surrey in their bid to reach a first ever finals day.

When asked if Moeen will be available on Saturday, Rhodes said: "I don't know. I'd really like to say 'yes.'

"I've heard nothing from the ECB but I'd like to say 'yes' because we'd love to have him in our side."

When asked if he would contact the ECB, Rhodes said: "I think the England management are aware already that teams are going to want their players to play in the quarter-finals.

"Ultimately, it will be down to them to make a decision. If that is that and they can't play, maybe we can ask the question why. But we are in the hands of the England boys to a certain extent."
