A PLOT of land near a busy Halesowen dual carriageway will continue to bloom thanks to an £800 cash boost.
Halesowen Women’s Institute adopted the overgrown and neglected area of land (pictured below), which borders a former bus stop on Queensway, in September 2016 with the aim of transforming it for the Halesowen in Bloom initiative.
The following summer the Halesowen WIn Bloomers group cleared the land, began planting and have since continued to meet and develop the plot for the benefit of the community, visitors and wildlife.
And their hard work has been rewarded as the project recently received an £800 grant, funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery via Postcode Local Trust.
The cash will be used to buy equipment to manage the plot, a planter to stand on the site of the former bus shelter and plants.
A spokesman for the Halesowen WI said: "We would like to thank all those in the wider community who play People’s Postcode Lottery.
"Your support will help to bring a little more ‘bloom’ to the Queensway plot, as part of Halesowen in Bloom.
"Thank you, also, to local people who have voiced their support and enjoyment of the change achieved so far and to those who have chosen to donate plants to further enhance the plot."
