NATIONAL charity the Cinnamon Trust, which was formed to support the elderly and terminally ill and their much loved and needed pets, are appealing for a volunteer dog walker in the Stanley Road area.

The charity help offer short term foster homes to cats and dogs whose owners have sadly died, are in hospital, or in respite or residential care, as well as offering all kinds of pet care - including dog walking.

A volunteer is needed to help walk the Bichon Frise breed dog, Esther, in the Stanley Road area, to help a resident.

Tressa Herriott, the appeals co-ordinator for the charity, said they were always looking for volunteer dog walkers.

"A large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets, feeling that their only option is to rehome them - this is where our national network of dedicated volunteers step in to offer support enabling them to stay together," she said.

"We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we’ll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays."
