SHE has only been singing for a year but Worcester’s Carly has serious pop potential.

The songwriter is releasing her debut single, Crazy Baby, Insane, next week and has promised to spend the next few years “giving everything” to make it as a musician.

Her singing career only started in 2009 – but she is already being praised for her powerful, individual pop-rock sound.

“It was my birthday last year and I started to think I’m getting older and I should at least look into it," she said.

"I got in touch with some songwriters and it’s really gone from there.”

Working alongside writers Dean Muscat and David Mackeeg, Carly, who lives in St Peter’s, went into the studio earlier this year. She also played live at various festivals through the summer.

“I played the Ginger Pig cafe as part of the Worcester Music Festival and I took part in Droitwich Music Festival.”

Last week she played a live sesson on BBC Hereford and Worcester's Introducing show.

“I’m very much into rock music and really admire singers such as Pink and Kelly Clarkson,” added Carly, who is happily using a one name moniker for the time being.

“I’ve still got a full time job, but it’s flexible and I am really determined. I am driven.

"We’ve done so much in the past six months and I’ve got it in my head that I’m going to put everything I can in to this for the next couple of years then just see where we’re at.

“It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of.”
