STUDLEY footballer Hannah Hampton has been called up to the England squad for the upcoming Arnold Clark Cup.

The inaugural tournament is being hosted in England this month and will see the Three Lionesses take on Germany, Spain and Canada.

Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, who currently plays for Aston Villa, has been called up to the squad and will join Sarina Wiegman's team at training next week.

The 21-year-old previously travelled with the England team for the previous She Believes cup in the US, but is now a fully-fledged part of the squad.

England kick off their tournament on February 17 at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium against Canada, before taking on Spain at Carrow Road in Norwich three days later.

The Three Lionesses will then take on world number three Germany at Wolves's Molineux on February 23.

The final match in Wolverhampton be something of a homecoming for the former Studley Infants School pupil, as her family and friends will be able to attend and cheer Hannah on.

Hannah said: "It's a new competition and it will be good to compete against top opponents.

"It's the first game we have had in the Midlands area, it will be good to get my family and friends there.

"It's good that it's in England and it will get people coming to games who will come back for the Euros in the summer and get a bigger fan base coming to women's games."

Her parents Chris and Laura have supported their daughter around the world from when she started playing football aged five.

She was spotted by an England scout aged 12 and represented England with the under 14's team before moving up all the youth levels to the under-21's team.

Starting out as a striker she moved into goalkeeping as a teen, building her club career at Birmingham City, before heading across the city to Aston Villa.
