CENTRES Ashley Beck and Ollie Lawrence are both a doubt for Worcester's European Challenge Cup opener at Newcastle Falcons this Friday evening (8pm kick-off).

England man Lawrence came off the bench in the 32-31 win over Wasps last weekend but has suffered another injury setback, this time to his hamstring.

Head coach Jonathan Thomas admitted he did not know how serious the tweak was and he will be monitored to assess the damage, meaning he is almost certainly out of contention this Friday night.

Lawrence has struggled with calf issues in recent weeks and missed most of November and could now be sidelined for a further period.

As for Welshman Beck, he was replaced at half-time with a groin injury and despite it not being a serious one, Thomas confirmed he was doubtful for the trip north.

Scrum-half Gareth Simpson was another of those who was withdrawn at half-time for Warriors last Saturday. He was carrying a rib issue into the game, having picked up the problem at Newcastle the week before.

But suffered a further bang to the ribs last weekend and will more than likely not be risked.

Matt Garvey came off with an HIA in that victory over Wasps so you would imagine he will be another who will miss out.

Scotland and British & Irish Lions prop Rory Sutherland picked up a dead leg but Thomas expects him to be okay to feature this Friday.
