REDDITCH United suffered back-to-back defeats in succession including a heavy defeat to a clinical Coalville Town.

Coalville were at the Trico Stadium on Monday night (September 27) and they took the lead through a corner in the fifth minute with an Alexander Dean header writes Tia Duckworth.

Redditch went close through Tiago and Lewis Hudson and a chance fell the way of Coalville as Thomas McGlinchey floated a pinpoint cross to the far post that was put wide.

Redditch finally made a chance count after Tiago was taken down inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Dan Sweeney stepped up and converted calmly into the bottom left corner of the goal. Coalville Town punished Redditch once again from a corner, this time Jake Eggleton converted at the back post with 10 minutes of the half left.

Right on the edge of half time and the Reds were awarded a freekick, Sweeney aimed for the top right corner only for the bottom of the upper ninety to deny him as it crashed down onto the line and away.

Coalville extended their lead after a controversial referee decision which looked like a clear handball to stop a Redditch attack. The resulting counter attack down the right produced a low cross across the box found Jake Eggleton whose initial shot was brilliantly saved by Boucher but the rebound was bundled over the line in the 61st minute.

Coalville scored again in the 76th minute as Redditch were sloppy in possession near the corner flag.

The cross found its way to the back post as Kian Taylor hit the post, but it rebounded into the centre of the goal and Billy Kee made no mistake in finding the goal from a few yards out to make the final score 1-4 to Coalville.

On Saturday Redditch hosted league leaders, Peterborough Sports.

It was an even start to the half with both sides creating half chances, Peterborough caused problems in the 26th minute after Joshua McCammon’s solo effort was saved by Boucher down to his right hand side, the following corner produced a quick reflex save from Boucher to deny a powerful Sembie Ferris header.

Peterborough took the lead after a brilliant team goal that split The Reds defence after one-touch passing. Jordan Nicolson took the ball well and calmly passed it into the right of the goal.

The second half was another even affair and turned end to end at certain points, with Redditch edging it overall but were unable to equalise and the game finished 0-1.
