After a very disappointing 2-1 defeat and performance against rivals Stratford Town on Tuesday, The Reds made the 179 mile trip to Leiston.
The visitors got off to the worst possible start however, as within three minutes Adam Mills gave Leiston the lead. A through ball down the left split the defence and Adam Mills made no mistake to slot it past the left leg of Boucher writes Tia Duckworth.
Redditch hadn't come out of the blocks and Leiston were pushing for their second early on. A left footed cross from Dylan Switters almost found the top right corner, then in the 12th minute, Finlay Barnes hit a curler that clipped off the top of the crossbar.
Ten minutes later and a half chance came for Redditch as they won a freekick 30/35 yards out in the centre of the pitch. Nabi took it but it just didn't dip quite enough to find the back of the net, instead it landed on the roof of the net.
Redditch slowly built into the game, and with nine minutes left of the first half, Curtis Hutson picked up the ball, drove forward and his low driven shot outside the box was saved by Samuel Donkin down to his right and he collected the ball before any onrushing Reds attackers.
Right on the stroke of half time, in the singular added minute, The Reds got themselves back in the game from a Kieran Day corner. A mix of Sweeney, Charlton and Djurovic rose to the ball and it found itself nestled into the right of the goal, with Dan Djurovic being credited for the goal.
Redditch started the second half much the better side, Sweeney held the ball up in typical fashion, laid it off to Bailey-Nicholls but his shot was fired into the side netting in the 57th minute.
Leiston still caused problems though as they hit back on the counter. In the 63rd minute, they worked it well down the left, with the outstretching leg of Brendan Ocran steering it just wide.
An inviting cross from Joseph Marsden saw it skip just wide of the post as the Blues attack couldn't meet it.
The clock hit 79 minutes and Bailey-Nicholls drove into the box on the left, but he was clipped and the referee blew his whistle, pointing to the spot. Up stepped Dan Sweeney who slotted it calmly into the bottom left corner to give the Reds the lead with 10 minutes left to go.
Virtually with the last kick of the game, Leiston had a huge chance to level the game after it was played into the box from the left. Oluwasijuola Oselusi controlled it well and opened his body up for the shot, however it was straight down Boucher's throat and he held onto it, with the final whistle blowing moments later much to the relief of Redditch United supporters.
After a poor first half, Redditch came out fighting and showed great grit and determination to complete the comeback away from home, and emerge with a 2-1 win to a strong and resolute Leiston side.
Next up for The Reds is Tamworth FC at home, The Trico, on August 28 as Redditch United hope to build on six points from nine. It's set to be a tough game, as Tamworth will be in good spirits after a 6-1 win against Lowestoft.
