WORCESTER Warriors' head coach Jonathan Thomas explains how experience of tough times at previous club Bristol proves how quickly things can turn around in rugby as his side look to end their losing streak at home to the Gallagher Premiership leaders.

Worcester have not won a game in any competition since the first round of the Premiership back in November, a stretch which has seen eight straight league defeats.

Warriors host league leaders Bristol Bears this afternoon (5.15pm kick-off) and head coach Thomas, who spent four years as a coach with the southwest outfit before his move to Worcester, insists this period of poor form is something that can be rectified.

"I was at Bristol when we were going through a similar bad patch," said Thomas.

"I can recall the first season that Pat was there the team were in the Championship and I think Pat really benefitted from being in that competition.

"But even though we were the big team in the league that year, there were a lot of average performances and a few difficult days at the office.

"Now they're in year four of Pat's tenure and the team have got that little bit better every year but I think it's always about the long game and understanding where you are and where you need to get to.

"We (Warriors) are not happy that we're losing but we know that the path we are on is the right one and we're confident we can come out of it.

"They (Bristol) have always had a clear plan and they started that in the championship and then they got promoted and finished 8th and every year they have progressed a little bit more and now they're at the top of the table.

"That's no different to what we are going to go through here at Worcester."

But Thomas emphasised that Worcester have their own path to follow and you cannot just mould yourself on another club's journey.

"It's not a copy and paste that's for sure," he added.

"There are things that you can relate to, Bristol had lost their identity as a club going back four or five years ago and it's probably bringing it back to what is our vision, how do we want to behave, what players do we want to recruit and so forth.

"We are going to do it our own way."
