LIVE: Sporting Khalsa v Worcester City

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FT: Khalsa 3 (Gosling 20p, 87p, McKenzie 29) City 2 (Nicol 50, 53)
  • TWO penalties proved decisive in a match City could have been blown away in before pushing for victory in the second half.
  • Khalsa led 2-0 at half-time, Jake Gosling’s penalty after Ryan Winwood had blocked a cross with his arm getting the ball rolling on a torrid 10 minutes for City.
  • Josh McKenzie cleared the bar from roughly a yard from Lee Chilton's cross but quickly made amends when lofted in to finish past Dan Jezeph one-on-one in the 29th minute.
  • City got a chance from nowhere but Liam Lockett scuffed a shot into the arms of the scrambling Sam Arnold four minutes before half-time and there was still time for Luke English to somehow scramble off the line under pressure from Lee Chilton in an otherwise open goal with the hosts threatening to run up a cricket score.
  • City showed far more composure after the restart, though, with half-time substitute Sean Brain’s lively work starting the move that saw English just about kept at bay only for Andy Nicol to turn and squeeze inside the far post.
  • It was well and truly game on three minutes later when Nicol was brought down on the edge of the box, then following up Jamie Smith’s free-kick to bludgeon past Arnold on the rebound.
  • City pressure kept building, Arnold having to paw over the bar Smith’s deep cross that was dipping under the bar but Khalsa regrouped and broke up play effectively, carrying a threat on the break.
  • Jezeph pulled off a remarkable one-handed save to beat away Liam Armstrong’s rasping drive and while City had shots charged down and gave Khalsa plenty to think about, the late scrappiness that set in shifted momentum once more.
  • City again found themselves out of shape and Armstrong, with his back to goal, got prevented from turning by Nat Kelly just inside the box with less than three minutes to play.
  • This time Gosling planted down the middle as Jezeph committed to the right to seal a hard-earned three points and wipe out the graft City had put into a rousing recovery.
