WORCESTER Warriors were handed their 11th defeat in 12 Premiership matches on Wednesday evening as they fell to a comprehensive 40-15 reverse at the hands of play-off chasing Bath.

In a much changed side Warriors struggled to compete with the extremely physical Bath pack, who secured a bonus-point win to go within one point of the Premiership top four.

The hosts scored six tries in all, four of which came from forwards and that was the story of the game, as Worcester struggled to contend the powerful front eight.

In a game which saw captain Will Butler stretchered off with what seemed to be a serious ankle injury, there were very few positives for the visitors who haven't won a Premiership match away from home since November.

Warriors did take the lead against the run of play to start the game when a wayward pass from Bath's Jack Walker found Worcester's Billy Searle, who intercepted and ran in for an early score.

The hosts roared back straight away through tries from Tom Ellis and Elliot Stooke as the forwards began to flex their muscles.

Bath would give Worcester another helping hand directly after Stooke's try as Zach Mercer dropped the kick-off and Ed Fidow scooped up the loose ball and marked his return to the Worcester side with a try.

After that it was pretty much one way traffic as Bath touched down twice more before the half was up through hooker Walker and full-back Tom de Glanville.

Searle added a penalty right on the stroke of half-time to reduce the deficit to eleven points at 26-15.

The onslaught continued into the second period and Stooke scored his second try of the game on the 48th minute following more dominant work from the Bath forwards.

The highlight of the game came on the 52nd minute when Semesa Rokoduguni collected a clearing kick on the half-way line and proceeded to step a few tacklers and made a break for the line.

He was pulled down short but the ball was recycled to Bath fly-half Joshua Matavesi who looked wide and threw an outrageous dummy before steamrolling through Justin Clegg on his way to the try-line.

The Fijian converted his try and that was the end of the scoring as Bath settled for a comfortable win.

It was another disappointing evening for the visitors, who also saw Chris Pennell removed from the pitch for a head injury. Solomons confirmed he failed his HIA and admitted Butler's injury could be a serious one.

Warriors travel to the capital on Sunday as they face London Irish at the stoop (3 pm KO).
