GARY Stevens is to step down as manager of Wellington FC, the club's chairman has said.

It comes as the uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West season will be expunged due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Wellington were eighth in the league, with 36 points from the 21 games played before the suspension of football in March.

Stevens will stay at the club until a new manager is found.

"Gary Stevens has amicably stepped down from the Hellenic League first team manager's role at Wellington Football Club," chairman Phil Smith said.

"Gary has served the club well and professionally over the last few seasons and will stay with us until a successor can be appointed."
