Alan Solomons was left disappointed after Warriors' "messy" defeat to Wasps at Sixways.

Warriors director of rugby Solomons was clearly disappointed after his side’s loss and put it down to a “messy breakdown” and an inability to build on momentum.

Warriors had led 13-5 at half-time but struggled to get going in the second-half, as Wasps came from behind to score three tries in the second period and take victory.

“Very disappointing” Solomons said.

“It was a game I thought we should have won. Even at the death we had the chance to win it. The breakdown was very messy.

“Key was to make the end of the first half count in the first ten minutes of the second. But we conceded as penalty and that didn’t help.

“They got some points so we couldn’t build on the momentum. There were a lot of swings in the match."

Despite the swing of the game, Solomons still believed his side had a chance to win the game and was slightly aggrieved at a decision that proved costly.

Ollie Lawrence looked to have forced Zach Kibirige over the try-line which would have meant a 5-metre scrum to Warriors. But the referee awarded a penalty to Wasps when Worcester were chasing a match winning score.

“At 26-23 we should close that game out” he said.

“We gave them a long distance try. Then we had the chance to win at the end and the breakdown was an issue there.

“I certainly thought it was our five-metre scrum which would have helped us a great deal. The breakdown was so messy and it really prevented us.

"But like I said, I will have to go back and look at it as I was quite a way from it.

"It's disappointing to go into the break with a defeat and we would want to rectify that but we have played a lot of rugby this season."

Warriors now have a two-week period without a game and players and staff will all take a ten-day break before the next game against Bath.

“Everyone will have 10 days off. We have played every weekend since September so everyone needs ten days away.

“Regroup on the Thursday with a good lead up to Bath that following next weekend.”
