FOLLOWING a disappointing 7-0 loss away at Peterborough Sports, The Reds failed to gain any points again on Saturday, losing 6-0 to Leiston, after a Jon Sands hat-trick.

The pick of the goals was Sands’ strike from the halfway line which lobbed Kieran Boucher in the 65th minute.

That was his second goal of the game and he went on to complete his hattrick 10 minutes later, as he poked in from a goal-mouth scramble.

Leiston opened the scoring after six minutes when Thomas Debenham latched onto a square ball across the face of goal - Probably the easiest goal he will score all season and definitely not the start that Redditch United were looking for.

The Reds went into half time just 1-0 down and were very much still in the

game. They would have felt unlucky not to level it before the break though, after James Lucas found himself through on goal. But he just couldn’t sort out his feet and fire a shot at the target.

But, three minutes into the second half, Sands grabbed the first of his trio of goals, when his header looped over Boucher, who had stormed off his line, to

increase the deficit to two goals.

Bryon Lawrence extended their lead just before the hour mark with an emphatic finish into the bottom right corner, and Sands’ hattrick knocked the stuffing out of this young Redditch side as he made it four... and then five goals to the good.

Debenham then scored his second of the game to make it 6-0 in the 82nd minute as he worked the ball onto his left foot, and bent it just inside Boucher’s right hand post.
