ALVECHURCH picked up a huge three points with a deserved win over St Ives.

The first-half was dominated by Church, who registered their first shot within the first minute of the game; although Mitch Botfield’s strike was saved.

Kyle Perry and Kevin Monterio then fired wide of goal with Perry also being denied by Ives keeper Finley Iron.

After 27 minutes Church took the lead with Javia Roberts driving into the Ives box and firing into the bottom corner. The visitors responded with Ben Seymore-Shove forcing easy saves from Joe Slinn.

The second-half was the same as the first with Church pushing for a second goal. Monterio was denied by Irons, while Roberts headed a golden chance wide.

Perry then had a shot superbly cleared off the line by Thomas Wood, while Jamie Willets headed over. Jordan Goddard then raced through but saw his goal bound shot deflected onto the post by the St Ives defender.

The win will be a relief for Church Manager Darren Byfield and his side now turn their focus their FA trophy trip to Peterborough Sports.
