WARRIORS
5 Pennell – made a fine break midway through the first half but was far from his best, making some handling errors and was left rooted to his spot by Davis for his try.
5 Howe – a surging run from deep just after the break was the wing’s brightest moment as he struggled to sparkle and was crunched by Stuart late on.
7 Lawrence – was a real focal point to Warriors’ attack and after being ruled out a try for a double movement he touched down for a well-deserved score.
6 Butler – started really brightly as he released Lawrence following a superb break and offload but was forced off with an ankle issue just 15 minutes in.
5 Nanai – a mixed bag from the wing who made defensive mistakes but showed glimpses of his skills and only a sensational last-ditch tackle denied him a length-of-the-field score.
5 Weir – like a lot of Warriors’ players, the fly-half got better as the match wore on, landing two conversions but was a little rusty with his distribution.
7 Hougaard – sparked a number of attacks with sniping runs off set-pieces and was on hand to score Warriors’ fourth and final try when shifted to the wing.
6 Black – an interesting afternoon for the prop who ended up at tighthead following Warriors’ double injury blow, but the scrum creaked.
5 Annett – was solid at the set-piece, landing all his throws but crucially missed a tackle on Homer in the lead up to Chudley’s early score.
6 Schonert – did little wrong before his match came to an end early in the second half when he sustained a worrying ankle injury and had to be helped off.
6 Kitchener – produced a nice offload to set up Mama for his score and was pretty solid in most departments of his game before making way.
7 Fatialofa – after a sloppy start the lock got stuck in, making some strong carries, landing big hits and was involved in the build-up to Hougaard’s late score.
7 Mama – things did not always go his way but was industrious, grafting away at the breakdown with some rewards and took his try really well.
6 Lewis – looked sharp in attack and was stopped just short of the try-line before Mama went over but was sin-binned for not releasing as Warriors’ penalty count rose.
8 DU PREEZ – a dominant display by the number eight who produced a try-saving tackle and was destructive going forward. My man of the match.
