Scrum-half Francois Hougaard is back in full training with Worcester Warriors after a delayed start to pre-season.

The Sixways talisman played a pivotal role in guiding Warriors clear of relegation trouble, playing 24 times last season and winning the Gallagher Premiership player of the month for April.

His efforts on the field had an impact on his body as he underwent a small procedure to repair his troublesome toes earlier this month.

But Hougaard has been integrated back into training and Solomons said the ex-South Africa international was in fine fettle.

“Francois is practising now,” Solomons said.

“We started him a bit later as he had a little bit of a problem with his toes so we had to sort that out and we have bled him into our sessions.

“On Tuesday he took a full part in our session and is looking really good.”

Solomons said there were “no major injury concerns” at Warriors with all the players who went under the knife returning to training.

Long-term absentees Ryan Bower and Ashley Beck have been stepping up their preparations.

Centres Ryan Mills, Will Butler and Ollie Lawrence, wing Perry Humphreys and utility back Scott van Breda, who all had surgery at the back end of the 2018-19 season, were also being put through their paces.

“You are always going to get guys missing training due to a little bit of hamstring or groin tightness,” Solomons said.

“But there are no major injury concerns at this point.

“Millsy has to be a little bit careful as he has got a bit of a dead leg but he and Scotty have taken a full part in our contact sessions of late.

“Perry also is coming through now so it’s looking good. All the guys that have had operations are looking positive.”
