FULL TIME: Worcester City 3 - 0 Boldmere St Michaels

I've just grabbed a word with City manager Ashley Vincent after the win and here's what he made of the performance.

"I'm very happy to win. I think our quality told more than anything else but I'm always asking for more energy than that. I know it was a warm day and the grass was a bit long, but it's the same for both sides and I'm expecting my team to play a higher tempo than that.

"They could have made it easier for themselves, but it's another three points and another home win, it's a clean sheet and there's definitely positives to take from it.

"Winning is a good habit to have, so while we're winning, we still need to be working on how we're playing and trying to make games easier for ourselves. While we're winning and learning, that's more positive than losing and learning.

"One negative today was Nat Kelly coming off injured; it doesn't look good and he's a key player for us. I'm disappointed in that but delighted to win as that's what football is about, but a little bit of me is thinking of things to work on.

"Ted Cann has been fantastic. He's 18 years old and 'keepers don't generally get their chance nowadays until they're about 25, but he's a very good player with a bright future ahead of him and he's been fantastic since he came in.

"Birchy is just a great captain. I can't speak highly enough of him as a person. He's wholehearted and at the end there he said 'gaffer I'm tired', I looked around and said to him, 'you are the least tired out there' and again he broke back in to make a tackle. He's just a fantastic player to have. He has a lot of quality."

"He showed his honesty and that's the captain in him. He doesn't go down. He never stays down if he's injured, he picks players up when he kicks someone and he's in the wrong. He's just a great leader." 

FULL TIME: WORCESTER CITY 3 - 0 BOLDMERE ST MICHAELS

All over and a comfortable win for City who did all the damage in the first half. 

86: Willis hits a drive from the edge of the area but it flashes over. Boldmere still keeping at it and Charlie Morris hits a shot wide after good work from the lively sub Steven Simpson.

78: Boldmere keep plugging away but still can't find a way past the City goalkeeper. A nice move eventually comes to nothing and a fine ball through finds the striker through on goal but he looks up to see the linesman's flag raised.

Talking of plugging away, Demetri Brown still wants a goal and is getting closer, sending a header just over the bar. 

70: City skipper Aaron Birch show his honesty by determinedly staying on his feet while being manhandled constantly in the opposition box. His eventual cross reached Lockett, who sees his shot saved.

Why is a penatly only given if a player goes down? 

It was certainly a foul on Birch but no spot-kick as he stays on his feet. Ashley Vincent with a wry smile on the bench!

66: Jordan Harrison, who has worked hard today without being able to grab a goal, comes off, with Tyreece Ruddock replacing him. 

The game has dropped in intensity since that penalty save with City looking comfortable. 

52: PENALTY TO BOLDMERE - SAVED!

Josh Willis was beaten by Ty Knight and fouled him in trying to get back at the winger - penalty to the visitors.

Rikardo Reid stepped-up confidently but his penalty is superbly saved by Ted Cann diving low to his left to keep it out and preserve the 3-0 lead.

If anyone can Ted Cann.... 

48: Almost a fourth for City as Josh Willis, a half-time substitute for Adam Osbourne, makes a good run and squares it across the six-yard box but no one has gambled and the chance goes begging.

HALF TIME: Worcester City 3 - 0 Boldmere St Michaels

GOAL ENGLISH 

Right-back Luke English gets his second and its a carbon copy of his first. Making a late run into the box on the angle, he met the cross from Withington with precision timing.

Boldmere's manager won't be pleased with the back-tracking of Kyle Byrne who has been beaten to the ball by English for both of his goals.

Just before that goal Demetri Brown has a shot saved by Fenney before Rikardo Reid has a good opening for the visitors but wastes the best chance they have had in a long time.

And there's the referee's whistle for half-time. City will be pleased to go in with a deserved lead.

After a fairly slow opening they have put themselves firmly in control of this contest.

37: GOAL ENGLISH: Worcester City 2 - 0 Boldmere St Michaels

A second for City after a good cross from Osbourne on the left finds the run of marauding full-back English who bundles the ball home after reaching it ahead of his marker and the goalkeeper.

City have a cushion but will be hungry for more as they are well on-top at present.

26: GOAL LOCKETT Worcester City 1 - 0 Boldmere St Michaels

Lockett pounces to open the scoring after a ball across the box was blocked well by a defender, only to fall nicely for the midfielder. City in front at the Victoria.

22: Approaching the half-way point of the first period and the first shot on target for City comes after good work from Liam Lockett who cuts in from the left and fires straight at Lewis Fenney.

20: A Boldmere cross sees the ball placed into a dangerous area but it evades everyone, much to City's relief.

At the other end, Demetri Brown is almost in but his touch deserts him and the ball is put out for a throw by the visitors. However, from the resulting throw-in English gets plenty of distance on it but like Boldmere's chance it goes right across the area to safety.

14: Byrne gets in behind the defence again and he gets a shot away from close-range but Luke English just about gets a block in - that was the closest we have come to a goal.

Byrne looks dangerous for the visitors.

"Move it quicker" comes the cry from the City faithful who clearly want to see a bit more pace added to the game from the home team.

10: Bright start for City and a bright kit for Boldmere St Michaels who are playing in a vibrant orange.

City have enjoyed couple of openings after good work from Luke English and Jordan Harrison, but we're still awaiting a shot on target.

Boldmere's diminutive winger Kyle Byrne almost got in after an error from centre-back Nyeko Sinclair but there was sufficient cover to avert the danger.

Good morning everyone and welcome to today's live coverage of City v Boldmere St Michaels.

City head into this one on the back of wins over South Normanton Athletic (1-0) and Stone Old Alleynians (4-1) at the Victoria Ground so far.

Today's opponents have yet to register a league point following a 1-0 defeat to Sporting Khalsa prior to a 5-1 bashing at Racing Club Warwick.

The Mikes upset the formbook last weekend, though, beating Daventry Town 3-1 in the FA Cup thanks to goals from Owen Parry (2) and Kyle Byrne.

City's recent record against Boldmere is not great with Parry bagging the winner from inside his own half as Boldmere made off with the points 2-1 at the Vic in March.

That completed a double as a sucker punch in the fourth minute of added time sank City 3-2 on the opening day of this season last August.

Last season, City's first in the MFL, saw the rivals face off three times having been drawn together in the FA Vase.

The cup clash was a classic, City winning 4-3 after extra-time thanks to Lee Hughes notching in the second period of the extra 30.

Boldmere became the first team to shut out City on home soil in March last season, a 0-0 draw that followed the 21-minute blitz that beat Long Eaton 5-0 less than 48 hours earlier.

That draw in March went a long way towards killing off any promotion hopes and it was all but over when the spoils were shared again in a 1-1 away draw in April.
