NEW manager Ian King says good progress is being made to build his new-look Redditch United squad.

King is currently looking at a host of players after pre-season preparations started last week.

Among the new faces at the Trico Stadium is former Oxford United defender Freddie Niblet and former Walsall midfielder Kian Flanagan.

Harry Franklin, Jordan Stoddart and Michael Nelson have all committed from last season's squad.

The boss says he'll be using the coming weeks to continue to assess a large number of players currently training with the club.

"It is a work in progress at the moment and will take the whole of pre-season for us to get where we want to be and to assemble the squad that we want," he said.

"I have every confidence that we'll get to where we want to be.

"We have a large group of players now and we'll be working our way through that and making decisions on who we want.

"We have a lot of players at the moment from a variety of backgrounds, from experienced non-league players to young professionals that have found themselves out of contract.

"I have had a lot of interest from agents and players and I'll never say no to anyone so we'll be looking at a lot of players in the coming weeks.

"We have a lot of games organised and it's now up to the players to prove they are worthy of playing for Redditch United.

"It's a busy time but it's all coming together nice and steadily and we are working hard to get where we need to be come the start of the season."
