DARREN Byfield says he's in no rush to add to his Alvechurch squad as pre-season training gets underway this weekend.

Players will return to the club on Saturday as the new man at Lye Meadow looks to put his stamp on his new-look side.

Byfield would like to add one or two more before the start of the new campaign but insists he's more focused on working with the group he's already been able to bring in.

Despite a host of last season's squad following previous boss Ian Long to Southern League Central rivals Stourbridge, Byfield has been able to snap up former Redditch United striker Danico Johnson, midfielder Stuart McNaught and young forward Ant Smith.

Former Walsall Wood players Kyle Rowley, Javia Roberts, Lloyd Ransome and John Atherton have all linked up with Church.

Academy players Ben Cassidy, who became the club’s youngest first team scorer last season, and Dylan Hadley will also boost Byfield's options.

"I'm in no rush now to bring anyone else in just yet," he said.

"We still have plenty of time until the season starts and now it's just about working with the lads and working on how we want to play.

"I'm more than happy with those we have got and the squad is exactly where I want it to be.

"It hasn't been too crazy to be honest. We've just gone and sorted the things we wanted. I think that has come from experience because we haven't panicked but just got the base of the team we want.

"We found out the players that we had staying from last season, quickly identified those we wanted to get in and have got to where we want to be quite easily.

"I won't be surrounding myself with loads of trialists either and will just be working with the players now.

"There are one or two areas I will look at but I know there will be plenty of players available as the season gets closer. We won't be rushing into things."
