PAUL Smith has swooped to sign highly rated midfield man Robbie Bunn from his former club Redditch United.

The Yeltz have beaten off considerable competition to capture Bunn who was also attracting interest from higher ranks clubs including Tamworth and Leamington.

Smith is well versed with Bunn's talent as the pair have also been together at both Bromsgrove Sporting and then Highgate United.

Smith said: "Signing Robbie wasn't a given. He was on contract at Redditch which meant Halesowen having to pay an undisclosed fee, although I do admit I was the manager who put Robbie on contract in the first place.

"In my opinion he is one of the best midfield players at Step 3 and we did really well to get him."

Smith also confirmed he is actively seeking a replacement for goalkeeper Dan Platt who has switched to join Hednesford town.

The Yeltz boss added: "I'm talking to five different goalkeepers at the moment - but I'm in no rush. I'll sign whoever I think is right for the club."
