CAPTAIN Gerrit-Jan van Velze is set to be back for Gallagher Premiership strugglers Worcester Warriors’ final three fixtures of the season.

Warriors who are three points above the drop zone have been without van Velze for almost two months after fracturing his arm in the defeat at Harlequins in mid-February.

The number eight damaged a plate in his right forearm at The Stoop and underwent surgery to repair the issue.

He is now back in training and boss Alan Solomons reckons the influential forward will be available for Warriors’ home league clash against Gloucester on April 28.

There is also hope fly-half Jamie Shillcock (quad) whose season has been hampered by injuries could be back before the end of the campaign which concludes next month.

However centres Ashley Beck (leg) and Ollie Lawrence (ankle), back rower Alafoti Fa’osiliva (knee) and prop Ryan Bower (Achilles) are unlikely to play again this term.

“Ashley has been training but I don’t think he will play this season to be honest,” Solomons said.

“I think GJ will be available to play. Ollie has just had his operation but there is no chance for him.

“I don’t think any of the long-term (injured) guys will come back before the end of the season other than Shilly and certainly GJ.

“After this block GJ should be good to go. He has been training hard.”
