STUDLEY slipped to a slender 1-0 defeat at Uttoxeter Town this week after Harry Towner hit home a late goal for the hosts.

Dismayed Studley boss John Edwards admitted: "I don't think we deserved to get anything out of the game, especially from the first half display.

"But we were just beginning to get on top when Uttoxeter went and scored with about 10 minutes remaining.

"I couldn't knock the effort from my players but we looked jaded, which surprised me as we haven't been playing much football recently.

"I get the feeling that some of the players have accepted we can only finish as high as sixth place, so we need to shake things up - and quickly.

"But we haven't got a game for the next two weeks now, which quite frankly is ridiculous.

"When you've just lost a game, you want to get back as quickly as possible to try and put things right.

"We didn't create a single chance in the first half against Uttoxeter and I had to tell the players some home truths at half time, but I shouldn't have to be doing that at this stage, not when you consider the quality of players that I've got.

"But we've now lost our last three games and that shouldn't be happening to us either."

Edwards has boosted his squad by bringing in left sided midfield man Connor Doyle from Coleshill Town, while striker Ricardo Richards has returned to the ranks.

Edwards added: "Ricardo is boss of the Black Horse Sunday side from Redditch. He's been training with us for the past month and is really eager to play. He will gives much more bite up front."
