WING Perry Humphreys reckons Worcester Warriors’ rotational policy is “a lot better” than last season when he felt some players “got flogged”.

Warriors will play in the Gallagher Premiership for the first time in five weeks when they visit Bath today.

But director of rugby Alan Solomons has tried to ensure his men have remained in good shape during the long break from league action.

After being rested for the opening two European Challenge Cup fixtures Warriors’ first-team stars played in the first two Premiership Cup games before being given another weekend off to recharge their batteries ahead of their trip to Bath.

“I feel the rotations have been much better than last season,” said Humphreys who will start on the wing in place of Josh Adams.

“I think last year a few boys got flogged but the boys have been managed a lot better this year and hopefully that will show in these next fixtures.”

Humphreys also believes morale has remained high following their last league meeting in early October when they thrashed Bristol Bears 52-7.

A much-changed Worcester team beat Stade Francais and Ospreys in Europe before the likes of Francois Hougaard and Bryce Heem steered the Sixways side to victories over Sale Sharks and Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Cup.

A 34-22 defeat at Saracens last Sunday ended Warriors’ five-match winning streak in all competitions but Humphreys insisted he and his team-mates were in “good spirits”.

“It always makes a difference when you win,” said the 24-year-old back.

“All the way from the Premiership Shield to the Premiership the boys have been performing well.

“We changed our whole 15 against Stade Francais and the boys put in a great shift so our strength in depth is really good at the minute.

“Last season we had a tough start with the likes of Exeter and Sarries. After the first six games we had not won and the pressure was on.

“Winning at Leicester this year and then beating Bristol has given us the momentum to carry through Europe which can change things a lot.”

On the prospect of tackling Bath, who sit one place below Warriors, Humphreys added: “We have got to target another win down there and take our opportunities.

“I think they have rested their first 15 for most of these past three games whereas we have played two so that might come into it.

“It is a massive game. If we can get a win and carry on the momentum into the next two Premiership games we will go back into Europe happy.”
