WORCESTER Warriors chief Alan Solomons reckons young gun Ted Hill could make his senior international debut on Saturday when England face minnows Japan.

Hill has been named in a 30-man squad that also features Warriors team-mates Nick Schonert and Ben Te’o ahead of the third Quilter International at Twickenham.

The 19-year-old was initially selected as an ‘apprentice’ by national boss Eddie Jones to help with his development as the blindside flanker trained with England in Portugal last month.

But Hill who has scored five tries in six appearances for Warriors this term now appears to be in the mix to wear the Red Rose after earning another call-up by Jones.

Asked whether he thought Hill was in with a chance of featuring this weekend, Solomons said: “Yes I do. There is a reason he has been invited down there.

“He is a terrific young player.

“He was invited as an apprentice and obviously impressed while he was with them.

“When he played for us in the Premiership Cup he did well and just continued his good run of form.

“He wouldn’t be in the squad if he wasn’t in contention.”

Solomons also believes Hill who marked his Premiership bow with a match-winning brace at Leicester Tigers in September will be able to handle himself on the big stage.

“I think he will (step up),” Solomons continued.

“As he is such a good player I think he will adapt to that level.

“He has not got the experience but he didn’t have the experience when he ran on against Leicester.”

Centre Te’o, 31, started in England’s 12-11 win over South Africa and 16-15 defeat to New Zealand.

Solomons felt Jones’ side’s clash with Japan was an opportunity for the likes of Hill and Schonert to represent their country.

Tighthead prop Schonert, 27, has been a key man for Worcester but is still awaiting his first cap.

“It’s unlikely that you are going to blood someone against South Africa, New Zealand or Australia,” Solomons said.

“I hope (Nick features).

“It’s fantastic to see our players get recognition and get into the England set-up.

“Nick has worked really hard on his game and is a terrific player.

“His all-around game has come on leaps and bounds. He is a terrific scrummager and a good bloke so it is great (that he is in the squad).”

Warriors are likely to be without Hill, Te’o and Schonert for Saturday’s trip to Bath in the Gallagher Premiership (12.45pm).

There is also a chance wing Josh Adams could be in action for Wales against Tonga.

But fly-half Duncan Weir looks set to return to the club after he was not named in Scotland's 23-man squad to face South Africa.
