STUDLEY suffered a slender 1-0 defeat to AFC Hinckley this week in Total Motion Midland League Division One.

But Studley didn't dwell on the defeat and instead took it out on unfortunate Nuneaton Griff by slamming seven goals past them.

Manager John Edwards said: "There was nothing to choose between us and Hinckley. It was going to take something special to separate us, then Jean Dakouri goes and hits a 'Worldie' from 25 to 30 yards out. It swerved and gave our goalkeeper Tom Hayward no chance.

"But against Nuneaton Griff we should have scored more. We missed as many as we scored.

"We came flying out of the traps and scored two quick goals. Griff pulled a goal back after 20 minutes and then made a game of it for quite a while.

"We changed our shape and the game was never in doubt from that point."

Recent signing Sean Brain bagged four of the goals, taking his tally to six in just two appearances, while Jake Donnelly added two more with Jordan Jones making it a magnificent seven.

But already Edwards accepts he has a battle on his hands to keep hold of Sean Brain.

He added: "We've already had seven days for Sean come in from Highgate United and I expect quite a few more. We'll just try to keep hold of him for as long as we possibly can."

Ironically, Studley have been drawn to face Highgate in the semi-final of the Worcestershire Senior Urn.

Studley have no fixture this Saturday.
