REDDITCH United boss Paul Smith has urged his players and supporters not to get carried away following the side's sudden upturn in form.

Reds have reeled off three straight wins ahead of this Saturday's trip to Derby based Mickleover Sports in the FA Trophy but Smith insists: "We are nowhere near the finished article at the moment and everyone needs to be grounded.

"I've had players and supporters coming up to me believing that we could be in the play-offs by the end of the season.

"While I don't want to put a dampener on things, they have to realise we're still in the bottom three and still in a relegation dog-fight!

With last Saturday's proposed opponents Kettering still involved in the FA Cup, Smith took the opportunity to take his players into Birmingham.

Smith claimed: "I wanted to do something different with the players, so we went to Broad Street and Brindley Place.

"Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves in what was a real good team bonding session.

"Mickleover is a game I really want to win. I had them watched at the weekend and they are a typical Northern Premier League outfit with some experienced players. I'm expecting a tough test!

Smith has extended his squad by signing Tamworth's versatile Lewis Wright following his release from The Lamb.

The Reds boss revealed: "I was made aware that Lewis was being released when we played Tamworth the previous week, which surprised me.

"He was previously at Redditch last season when Tim Harris was in charge and can play at full back or central midfield.

Wright was due to feature for Reds in this week's Birmingham Senior Cup clash against Rugby Town.

Smith also has another signing in the pipe-line but confirmed: "I'm hoping to have the player concerned on board by the end of the week but there's no need to rush as he is already cup tied for the FA Trophy".
