BROMSGROVE breezed to an emphatic 48-8 success over rivals Moseley Oak this week in Midlands One West - but already the focus is on next Saturday's top of the table clash at Newbold-on-Avon.

Head Coach Dan Protherough confirmed: "We didn't play particularly well against Moseley Oak, especially in the first half when there were some very sloppy aspects to our play.

"At times, we weren't at the races, but we were better in the second half.

"We need to be better and we cannot afford to make those same mistakes against Newbold.

"Yet I don't know why, but the players always seem to be up for the big games like Newbold. It will be tough, but sometimes it helps knowing that you're going to be in a proper battle".

Full back Tom Sadler led the charge against Moseley Oak by running in three tries while hooker James Gunter grabbed two more.

Second row James Martin, centre Ed Spalding and replacement full back Ross Attwood also breached Oak's defence while fly half Will Harris helped himself to four conversions.

But Protherough insisted: " I want the players to start focusing on the performance rather than the points.

"Newbold represents a big challenge and they are going to come hard at us, because we're top of the table".

Bromsgrove will be running a supporters coach to Newbold and anyone interested in booking a seat should contact the club.
