DROITWICH Spa Hockey Club men's firsts remained top of Midlands Men's T3 South West Division One with a 3-2 win over Bromsgrove seconds for their third straight victory.

Spa went up 3-0 with strikes from Andy Rollason, Dave Hindle and Dan Mazurek.

Goals from Harry Meade and Mark Gormley set up a tense second half but Spa added to wins against Barford Tigers and their second team.

Spa seconds lost 4-1 to Solihull Blossomfield seconds with Barry Williams scoring a consolation in the second period.

The thirds came back from 3-0 down after 20 minutes to draw 4-4 with Old Halesonians fifths in Division Four.

Fernando Prendiville gave Spa hope in the first half as his strike reduced the arrears.

A stirring second-period comeback was led by youngster John Phillips with his first senior goals.

His first was a reverse-stick effort in the circle before a low strike equalised.

Old Hales edged ahead again from a penalty corner before youngster Arthur Carter levelled for a second time.

They beat Bournville fourths 5-2 the previous week with Carter (3), Nick Bates and Paul Woodward scoring.

Droitwich firsts' good form continued in Worcestershire Women's League Division Two to keep top spot with a 6-1 win over Harborne.

Their second league success followed the previous week's 2-1 victory over Worcester thirds.

Droitwich started quickly with Abigail Latham scoring early before Lucy Hine added two goals with a penalty-corner strike in between.

After the break Latham and Hine scored a goal apiece to extend Spa's lead.

The seconds could not do an early-season double with a 1-0 defeat at Kings Heath Pickwick.

The previous Saturday Kings Heath were soundly beaten 4-1.
